  • Game Master

I am a strategically oriented creative writing and narrative design graduate seeking a position in a video game development studio. With extensive understanding of game mechanics, concepts, player experience, and narrative flow, I am eager to work with a team and across departments to tell unforgettable stories.

Narrative Design

Experience with story stacking, 7 core ideas, character biographies, NPC concepts, game narrative responses, golden path, creative briefs, enemy concepts, item descriptions, cutscene writing, video game pitches, layer cake dialogue, use of twine, and branching dialogue.

Video Games

Deep understanding of the current PC video game landscape and trends. Experience with 400+ different games, including all major AAA game releases across all platforms.

TTRPG

Active participant in various TTRPG campaigns as both a player and game master. As a game master I have extensive experience developing characters, designing levels, puzzles, and monsters while being mindful of player engagement and player experience level. I have experience with the following systems: Chronicles of Darkness, Dungeons and Dragons 5e, Vampire the Masquerade (VTM) 2e, Pathfinder 1e, Starfinder 1e, Cyberpunk 2020, World of Darkness Hunter the Reckoning, and Warhammer 40k Deathwatch.

Board Games

From Dead of Winter to Connect Four, board games are great examples of effective game design. Studying successful board games’ rules, board layout, and cards is great practice for learning how to create engaging and balanced systems. Taken what I have learned I have designed my own card game called Holdout.

World Mythology

Experience and deep understanding of Asian, American, African, Australian, and European mythologies, folklores, and cryptids. I believe these stories are prime examples of interconnected stories and represent key ideas for effective storytelling. Myths and folklore are stories told for a reason, either to explain how the world works, showing how something is dangerous, or portraying heroes to emulate. These stories, while appearing basic, have withstood centuries or millennia of human history while still being largely recognized. That is a level of storytelling I want to achieve.
